Captain and Crew
Alex has been the Captain of Bare Necessities even before her creation. He was heavily involved throughout her build, and has run the yacht ever since. Alex is from a navy family background and has been a professional Captain for 30 years. He started aboard classic yachts in 1985 and possesses an excellent understanding of boatbuilding practices and keeps the yacht looking like new. He has a command license of Master 3,000ft and a reassuring confidence and calm approach, so you’ll be in safe hands. Alex keeps a happy, hard working crew and operates to exceptional standards.
David has sailed on Bare Necessities since 2012. David is skilful at making sure guests are as involved as much as they like. David has extensive hosting experience from running chalets and is very skilled at catering to guests needs. He is excellent with children, encouraging them to be part of the sailing, rides in the dinghy, playing on the beach or helping with a game on their latest gismo. He is keen on water sports and now working towards higher qualifications.
Megan experienced her first gale at 7 weeks old. She has been around boats all her life and has worked on Bare Necessities for over three seasons. Megan became a Sea Cadet aged 10 and won ‘Smartest Cadet’, two years running. Sailing in the summer and skiing in the winter, Megan is a qualified chef and has spent three winters running ski chalets. Megan will look after your catering needs and make sure fresh bedding and towels appear like magic.
